Every once in a while you stumble upon something fun, something new, something different and something cool. Last friday, I stumbled upon such a thing.
Having a drink at a bar, these nicely dressed, handsome guys came walking in. Picture the modern man; good suit, good hair and an eye for detail, apparently. Instead of the pocket square they were wearing a nice geometrically shaped, flat object in their pockets. Coated in either gold or silver and in thin lines. Immediately, I fell in love with the shapes and of course the originality.
Instead of the “same old” pocket square you, the modern man, can now be as divers in your choice as many women are with accessories. No longer you have to choose between fabrics and folding but between a sophisticated handkerchief, pocchiali or the pocketmen. Specially for those who weren’t entirely sure if the pocket square suited them or their style, there is now an other option. Besides giving men an other option, it is foremost a stylish and original accessory and something entirely different.
I met the designer the same night, Juliette de Graaf, and she is a talented young women who has a pretty divers career. She came up with Pocketmen but is also a graphic designer which is probably the reason the design is so clear and clean. The pocketmen comes in different shapes; square, round, rectangular and even the outlining of a cloud. My favourite. It all consists out of one piece. The upper part will be the shape you have chosen, the lower part is used to pin it in your pocket. Kind of like a tie-pin. On the inside of your jacket, you will now have two small pins attached. Which do not ruin anything on the jacket, something I find very important.
It comes in brass or stainless steel and can also be custom made with a personal message etched in it. The website does not work that well but trust me as I say that it is worth to take a look. There is also is a facebook-page on which you can see some photo’s as there’s not an official photo series. But you don’t care because being an early adaptor with a very beautiful and suitable accessory is far, far more important!
I am a fan. Absolutely.
